Montessori Word Study

To better familiarize my friends and readers with the work that I do (and what my students do) I am posting an example of prefix and suffix material I recently made. The prefixes are color coded blue and the suffixes green. The students write the prefix or suffix along with the definition. They then take the syllable and place it in front of (or behind) the root word and write it in their book with the new syllable in colour. The syllable is moved down the list until all new words have been formed. Students review the words and their meanings with the teacher. Older students are required to think of three more words using that syllable.
