Football Season!! Let’s take a look at the teams:
The BC Lions resigned several key players, both on defense and offense. Although they did trade veteran receivers Geroy Simon and Arland Bruce, BC will remain a dominant team thanks to their strong defensive core and quarterback. They will take second in the west.
The Calgary Stampeders made relatively few changes in the off-season. They continue to be a strong team with two able quarterbacks – Glenn and Tate. Jon Cornish, the league rushing leader will ensure a successful season. Calgary will place third in the west.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders made several coaching changes since last season. They acquired receiver Geroy Simon and many solid defensive players including Ricky Foley and John Chick. The Riders will be atop the west division.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were last in many categories last year, including giveaways/takeaways (-17) and pass completions (58.8%). Little will change this year. They will be last in the east.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats were an offensive stronghouse on paper last year. They lead the league in passing touchdowns (43), passing yards a game (298.2), and punt return yards (1208). However, they failed to finish games. With Kent Austin as their new head coach look to see Hamilton place first in the east.
The Toronto Argonauts were 9-9 last season and won the Grey Cup. This was in large part due to Chad Owens who had over 3800 yards receiving, returning, and rushing the ball. Toronto will not have the same success this year. They will be third in the east.
The Montreal Alouettes have a new head coach, Dan Hawkins and a new defensive coordinator. Many key players were re-signed. Additions were made defensively with the inking of Byron Parker and offensively with the signing of Arland Bruce. Montreal will place second in the east.
