  1. Wondering about Galilee, SK. Supposed my grandfather, Oliver Vaughan Martin, and his good friend James Schofield founded the town after living in Moose Jaw. Jim Schofield was later a judge. Would love to know where to find out anything about either of them or Galilee. Any suggestions? My mother is now 91 and was telling me the story of when her father (Oliver) immigrated from London to Moose Jaw, her mother and siblings followed. Grandpa bought a rooming house in Moose Jaw where my grandmother brought two of my mother’s siblings (my mother was the youngest of 5, one died in England). Anything you might now that could help us find out more would be appreciated. Thank you. GH

    • I tend to get my information on ghost towns from local history books in the Regina Public Library’s Prairie History Room (Central Library). I guess that only helps if you are a local. I will check which books I consulted. Many books there also include a section on local family histories. I will keep you up-to-date if I find any worthwhile leads.

  2. Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post. Although I live in Detroit, I’ve either driven across or taken the train across Saskatchewan many times. If memory serves, your pic is of Banff and the Bow River valley, which is one of my fave spots.

  3. Hi! Thanks for your like. I just had a look onto your page and must say your photographs are stunning! Greetings from Germany!

  4. Hi, I was wondering if it was possible if you could email the pictures from West Bend Sask and any others if you have.

  5. HELLO, MY NAME IS GLEN AND I GREW UP IN WEST BEND. I HAD MY FIRST YEAR OF SCHOOLING IN 1967, THE SCHOOL CLOSED THE FOLLOWING YEAR. MY FATHER WAS A MECHANIC AND FARMER. HE OWNED THE WHITE GARAGE THAT WAS NOT MENTIONED IN YOUR BLOG, IT WAS BUILT IN 1965 FOLLOWING A FIRE THAT DESTROYED THE ORIGINAL GARAGE AND OUR HOUSE WHICH WAS LOCATED JUST BESIDE THE GARAGE.

  6. Nice page! I enjoy the features on the old/abandoned towns.

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your photos are great. I will stop here again.

  8. Thanks for visiting and liking my post “Dont’ Fence Me In”. Saskatchewan is the one prairie that stole my heart- and I am a born and bred West Coast girl. The humble Prairie surprised me with her Qu’ apple Valley, the Cyprus Hills and of course Val Marie and the grasslands. And that yet doesn’t speak of the lush Northern parts I hope one day to explore~

  9. is there a way to contact you via email?

  10. I enjoyed your photos of Saskatchewan very much, particularly those of Lebret – very picturesque and a wonderful photo taken during a blizzard.
