Gem Lakes

The Gem Lakes trail is a splendid adventure. The path is a moderate hike through evergreens and around six lakes. Although labelled as a 5.5 kilometre hike, we trekked about 7 kilometres exploring several spur lines and campsites. Narrow Hills Provincial Park

Last week I explored beautiful Narrow Hills Provincial Park. We camped at Lower Fishing Lake Campground which has several amenities within a 5-10 minute walk. There is a store, boat rentals, group camping, flush outhouses, beach, and service centre. Most sites are open (not private), however we lucked out with a great spot. Fairy Hill

Fairy Hill is a protected area north of Regina. Nature Conservancy Canada owns this 1,600 acre parcel of land. The region includes grasslands, ravines, wetlands, bush, woods, and pasture. The trail section of Fairy Hill is located just east of Highway 6 before it descends into the Qu’Appelle Valley. The lollipop trail is about six kilometres in length and is easy to moderate. Hiking 2020

This year I hiked 158.22 kilometres during twenty-five outings. All trails were in Saskatchewan. Locations included Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, Wascana Trails, Duck Mountain Provincial Park, Meadow Lake Provincial Park, Moose Mountain Provincial Park, Hidden Valley Nature Refuge, and Fairy Hill. Hidden Valley Nature Refuge

Hidden Valley Nature Refuge is located eight kilometres east of Craven. It covers over three hundred acres and is owned by Nature Regina. Hiking, educational studies, photography, and observing wildlife are the primary purposes of this protected space. The terrain includes grassland, hills, woods, and coulees.
